The route is broken down into several sections, some of which are the 2.11-mile (3.4 kilometer) long Xiangshang section, the 2.48-mile (four kilometer) Moon Lake Section, the 2.17-mile (3.5 kilometer) Ita Thao section and the Songbolun and the Shuishe sections, which are 0.93 miles (1.5 kilometers) long.

The highest international road in the world runs from Abbottabad, Pakistan, to Kashgar, China. Cyclists can travel around 745 miles (1,200 kilometers), starting from Kashgar and cross through the picturesque Hunza Valley, with breathtaking views of snow-capped Karakoram peaks throughout.

The Route des Grand Crus, or “Road of the Great Wines,” is often simply called the “Wine Route.” It passes through Burgundy’s many vineyards, between Dijon, Beaune and Santenay. This route spans through 497 miles (800 kilometers) of roads, hills and vineyards perfect for leisure biking.

The 15-mile-long (24 kilometer) Hiawatha mountain trail crosses 10 train tunnels and seven trestles. The longest is the Taft Tunnel, which is 1.67 miles (2.7 kilometers) long. A major attraction of this route is that it is all downhill and shuttle buses are available to transport you and your cycle back to the top.

Amsterdam is one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world. Cycle Route 10 is a four-hour route and riders will cover 26 miles (42 kilometers) that will take them through a ring canal, windmills, the famous street market in Holland and more.

The southwest of France offers several scenic cycling routes to explore the region’s history, wines and cheese. Cyclists can opt between the picturesque 869-mile (1,400 kilometers) Vélodyssée route or ride between Sarlat and Rocamadour – a distance of 15 miles (25 kilometers).

The Great Divide Mountain route is the longest off-pavement route in the world and covers a total of 2,745 miles (4,418 kilometers). The trail extends from Banff, Canada, to Antelope Wells, New Mexico, U.S., and cyclists encounter terrains ranging from difficult to moderate. This route is mostly suitable for professionals or expert cyclists.

The South Downs Way, England

 

The South Downs Way is a 99-mile (160 kilometer) route that stretches from Winchester in Hampshire to Eastbourne in Sussex. It passes through the South Downs National Park, Devils Dyke, Meon Valley, Chanctonbury Ring, Butser Hill and the Long Man of Wilmington offering picturesque views of the hills, fields and quaint villages.
